The campus of the University of Wisconsin – Madison is once again full of young men and women who have arrived in the city to start the new school year. As students are moving in, my mind is taking me back to the years I spent at this university. Move-in days are bringing back memories….

GOD’S BEAUTIFUL CREATIONS, BESIDES HUMANS
As a child, I did not spend much time around animals. But I have always learnt to appreciate God’s creations. We are all created by the same God – humans, animals, plants, and all other beings. Since my childhood, I have always been fascinated by the wide variety of animals that are here on this…
LIVING IN THE BEST CITY
The city of Madison, in the beautiful state of Wisconsin, is known as the best place to live in America, according to Livability.com. I decided to make Madison my home, many years ago, and I think it is one of the best decisions I made in my life. When I came to the United States,…
WHEN WILL GASOLINE PRICES GO DOWN?
High gasoline prices at the pump are causing great pain and suffering for Americans. Here in Madison, Wisconsin, at a gas station close to where I live, the price of regular gasoline has increased significantly and is now approximately $3.09 per gallon, while the premium grade costs close to $4. The Biden administration’s policies have…
ONLY IN CALIFORNIA: MEAL WITH MASKS ON
Just when people thought that things could not get any more difficult, the office of the governor of California advised restaurant diners that they should put their masks back on after each bite. The suggestion is ridiculous, to say the least. Masks have become a topic of great controversy and debate over the last several…
NEW COVID RESTRICTIONS WOULD DESTROY WI’S RESTAURANT INDUSTRY
Just when Wisconsin’s restaurant industry thought that COVID-related restrictions would be eased, making way for people to get back to reviving their businesses and making up for the losses incurred over the last several months, the governor of Wisconsin announced additional restrictions. The new order would hurt the already-struggling restaurants in the state, and could…
BIDEN SUPPORTS FORCING AMERICANS TO WEAR MASKS NATIONWIDE
This year, we have seen many examples of government overreach across the country. During the pandemic, state and local governments forced people to shut down businesses, and also restricted people’s personal freedom by forcing them to wear masks. Many of these mandates are still in place. If Joe Biden is elected to the office of…
SHOCKED AND DISAPPOINTED: MILWAUKEE MAYOR WANTS TO CUT 120 POLICE OFFICER POSITIONS
At a time when the need for law enforcement is greater than ever before, Mayor Tom Barrett is proposing to reduce Milwaukee’s police force by 120 officers. I am shocked and disappointed to learn this. Reportedly, the reduction will be in the form of putting a stop on the hiring of new officers to replace…
EMERGENCY TRAVEL ORDER WOULD GREATLY HURT CHICAGO’S TOURISM INDUSTRY
Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s decision to add Wisconsin to Chicago’s coronavirus travel advisory would hurt the city’s tourism and economy. Mayor Lightfoot announced on Monday that Wisconsin would be added to Chicago’s “Emergency Travel Order”, starting Friday. This means that anyone traveling to Chicago from Wisconsin, or returning to Chicago after visiting Wisconsin, would be required…
PRESERVE HISTORY BY PROTECTING STATUES AND MONUMENTS
I was disappointed to learn that protesters in Chicago were trying to topple the statue of Christopher Columbus, yesterday. Statues and monuments are an important part of America. These statues help document and preserve our nation’s history. Unfortunately, many individuals are trying to destroy statues and historical monuments, which is resulting in chaos and lawlessness….
WOULD A QUARANTINE ORDER FOR WISCONSINITES MAKES CHICAGO A SAFER CITY?
Chicago has numerous challenges including, but not limited, growing crime and other public safety threats. Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago must clearly understand her priorities as a local elected official, and govern accordingly. Putting Wisconsinites on a COVID-19 quarantine list should not be on her list of things to do. According to her recent comments,…
MASK MANDATE IS GOVERNMENT OVERREACH
Freedom is under attack in states and counties across the country. Shockingly, various states and counties are requiring law-abiding people to wear masks, and some are threatening citizens with steep penalties for failure to comply. Government does not have the authority to implement such mandates. The state of Louisiana, starting Monday, July 13, 2020, would…
WILL CALIFORNIANS SEE A GAS TAX INCREASE DURING THE PANDEMIC?
The gas tax in California is scheduled to increase on July 1, 2020. I believe that lawmakers must take action to stop this increase from being implemented. What happens in one state can often set an example for other states. As Americans continue to fight the coronavirus pandemic, as well as deal with widespread unemployment…
A HUG SYMBOLIZES FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE
The word “hug” symbolizes friendship and love. A hug is extremely powerful. And yet, in this age of social distancing, people are not hugging each other, fearing the spread of the coronavirus. People hug each other upon meeting up, when saying goodbye, when mending broken ties, to congratulate, or to help alleviate one’s sorrow. A…
WAIVING THE ROAD TEST IS A FLAWED POLICY DECISION
The State of Wisconsin decided to waive the road test requirement for obtaining a new driver’s license. The reason for this change is to contain the spread of coronavirus. This flawed policy may have unintended consequences by contributing to more accidents and possibly deaths by unintentional injury. Beginning May 11, individuals aged 16 and 17…
WILL CASES OF COVID-19 INFECTIONS INCREASE IF LOCKDOWN IS LIFTED?
As governors of various states are extending the stay-at-home orders, protests are starting to brew because people are frustrated with not being able to lead normal lives. At the center of all this is the question of whether or not cases of COVID-19 infections would increase if lockdown is lifted. Federal guidelines recommended social distancing,…
WISCONSIN’S SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT WOULD BECOME MORE CONSERVATIVE
The electorate is changing – children grow up, foreign-born individuals become naturalized citizens, many develop passion for politics, people move in and out of cities and state, etc. Wisconsin’s second congressional district leans towards Democrats. However, the support for conservatives could gradually grow. Dane, the largest county in the district, has major employers and entrepreneurial…
WISCONSIN NEEDS BOTH SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM TRANSPORTATION FUNDING PLANS WITH ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY IN SPENDING
In his letter, published on June 5, 2019, Mr. David Lendved of Lodi referenced a letter I had written last month. He disagreed with me after I argued that the state gas tax should not be increased. He concluded that borrowing funds for transportation projects is unsustainable and placed blame on Republicans. My letter did…
EFFORTS TO IMPEACH PRESIDENT TRUMP WOULD HELP HIM GET RE-ELECTED
Various Democrat elected officials have called for President Donald J. Trump’s impeachment, since he first took office. Most recently, U.S. Representative Mark Pocan from Wisconsin’s 2nd congressional district called for impeachment inquiry into President Trump.[i] The nation was shocked when Republican congressman Justin Amash from Michigan also called for the president’s impeachment.[ii] While such calls…
REPUBLICAN PARTY CAUCUSES AND LINCOLN DAY EVENTS – MY THOUGHTS AND OBSERVATION
Two states, eleven counties – both urban and rural – and a strange mix of frustration and enthusiasm. I saw anxious eyes, witnessed expression of joy, and heard words of determination at various Lincoln Day events and Republican Party caucuses in 2019. There are many challenges ahead for conservatives, but the grassroots energy is growing….
IS WISCONSIN’S NATIONAL INFLUENCE WANING? THE ANSWER IS “NO”.
My response to Craig Gilbert’s claim: “As Ryan leaves, Wisconsin’s national influence wanes”. https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/blogs/wisconsin-voter/2018/04/13/ryan-leaves-cheesehead-revolution-all-but-over/515905002/ Last month, a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article claimed: “As Ryan leaves, Wisconsin’s national influence wanes”. The writer goes on to explain the rationale for such a headline, highlighting the departure of Reince Priebus from the post of the Chief of Staff…
REPEAL OF THE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE – RESTORING CONFIDENCE, FREEDOM, AND CHOICE
[Views expressed here are my own, and have not been endorsed by any political party, elected official, candidate for elected office, or any local, state or federal government agency] The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which just passed the Senate and the House and was signed into law by President Donald J. Trump earlier today,…
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION 2017 – REPUBLICAN WOMEN OF DANE COUNTY
On Friday, December 1, 2017, the Republican Women of Dane County enjoyed an exclusive private tour of the Wisconsin Executive Residence, better known as the Governor’s Mansion. The mansion is located in the Village of Maple Bluff. Our Governor, Scott Walker, is the 14th Governor to reside here. The mansion was originally designed by an…
REPUBLICAN PARTY OF DANE COUNTY – WE OVERCOME CHALLENGES SO THAT WISCONSIN, AND AMERICA, CAN SUCCEED
“Oh, I am sorry to hear that” – said a gentleman to me, jokingly, with a smile on his face. We had just met at a political event, and were getting to know each other. He made the comment when he found out that I am a Republican from Madison, Dane County. Anyone living in…
OUR REACTION TO VICTORY: “WORK HARDER”
There are two possible reactions to victory. The first one is when a person or group feels that the mission has been accomplished, and therefore chooses to relax and enjoy the win. The second kind would be when a person or group is further energized by victory, and is motivated to work even harder. The…
THANKING FIRST RESPONDERS, EVERY DAY
America’s law enforcement officers and other first responders are our assets. The tremendous service they provide and the sacrifices they make are hard to explain in words. They put themselves in harm’s way, to save the lives of others. These brave men and women should be supported and celebrated. As someone who was born and…
UNNECESSARY: NEW VEHICLE “IDLING” ORDINANCE IN MADISON, WI
A recently-passed ordinance in the City of Madison limits the length of time that drivers can keep a vehicle’s engine running while it is parked on public and private property, with exceptions. The limit is set at five minutes. The “driving factors” for this ordinance, as stated in the article, are the environmental and health impacts from car exhaust. While I understand the desire of local elected officials to create a healthier environment by reducing emissions, I believe that the passage of such ordinance will not bring about any significant benefit and would create unnecessary enforcement burdens on public officials.
