There are many questions surrounding Gobekli Tepe—its origin, who built it, how long ago it was built, and more. I hope to know the answers.
I am not an archaeologist. I am not a geologist. I am not an expert in ancient megalithic structures.
However, I have a curious mind, and I wish to learn about mankind’s past.
There are various claims about Gobekli Tepe. Some believe that it was built by hunter-gatherers. Others assume that the giant megalithic complex was built by an advanced civilization that was then lost in the passage of time. And then, there are those who think that the site is associated with extra-terrestrial activities. In any case, researchers are still looking for answers.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Professor Marc Defant, a geologist and geochemist at the University of South Florida. He was a guest on my podcast, Explore and Engage with Anam.
Professor Defant shared with me his thoughts about Gobekli Tepe. He shared a description of the ancient site and talked to me about what the scientists found at this complex, which I truly appreciated learning.
The ongoing debate right now is between two groups: one that believes in hard science and analyzes physical proof and evidence before drawing conclusions about megaliths, and the second group that often relies heavily on examining cultures, traditions, and mythologies to hypothesize about lost civilizations.
During the podcast episode, Professor Defant explained his understanding of Gobekli Tepe based on the practice of science. The podcast episode contains valuable information for those who wish to learn more about Gobekli Tepe.
Giant megaliths are fascinating. These are visually stunning. Delving deeper into understanding the origin of these structures requires drifting into the past and trying to study the mindset of ancient human beings.
Megaliths, such as Gobekli Tepe, Puma Punku, and the Pyramids of Giza are structural marvels and also mathematical mysteries.
I enjoy hearing the different opinions that scientists, scholars, and students of history have about ancient megalithic sites.
There is a vast ocean of information that human beings have still not been able to acquire. Our knowledge and understanding of ancient megaliths are incomplete. And therefore, the search for the truth must continue.
