A new year is about new hopes and new dreams. Sometimes, it is about the continuation of the same hopes and dreams from the previous year. Whatever the case may be, a new year is certainly about renewed energy to achieve that which one hopes for and to fulfill the dreams that one has.
As I enter the new year, I feel a renewed sense of hope in the power of pen and paper.
Freedom of expression is essential for peace of mind. And a powerful way to express one’s thoughts and feelings is through written words.
Over the years, I have written a lot. Essays, memos, policy papers, letters to editors, op-eds, blog posts, poems, and much more.
The more I have written, the more I have wanted to write—both non-fiction and fiction. My goal is to always publish and present my writings for all to read.
A writer can create a world of his own, by crafting short stories and novels. A writer, by observing the world around him, can also provide a clear account of an occurrence or event along with an analysis of what that means for a population, territory, or the human civilization as a whole.
Through words, a writer can narrate, provide a prediction, or issue guidance for people to follow. Through words, one can share joy, lament, or express fears.
A writer, through words, can paint a picture of an ideal society that we must try to establish.
A writer can do it all, and much more.
In this new year, I hope to be able to write more—about the world we live in, our fortunes, our challenges, how we can try to improve the lives of the people around us, and how we can create more opportunities for the creative minds to flourish.
I hope that in this new year, more people will explore the power of pen and paper.
When a person decides to write, the sky is the limit.
