As a Wisconsinite who frequently visits Chicago, I am concerned about widespread crimes in the Windy City. I believe that President Donald Trump should deploy the National Guard in Chicago, and also mobilize other federal agents, to combat crime.
Governor JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson have completely failed to restore law and order in Chicago. As such, President Trump and his administration must do what is best for this major American city.
We have seen the effective measures that the Trump administration took to fight crimes and lawlessness in the District of Columbia. Hundreds of arrests have taken place, and the country’s capital is now a much safer place.
What worked in DC would work in other major cities as well. Chicago, in particular, is a city where the residents continue to suffer because of rampant crime. Homicides, shootings, robberies, carjackings, thefts, and other forms of crimes are taking place in Chicago. Therefore, strong action is necessary to ensure public safety.
If no action is taken to address this crisis, then more and more residents are likely to leave Chicago. Businesses, too, are going to decide to exit and relocate to other cities and states.
If President Trump sends the National Guard and other federal agents to Chicago, it would be in the best interest of the people of Chicago. It is time to take the right step to restore law and order in this major American city.
