What a remarkable sight it was–a gathering of some of the most powerful leaders in global politics, in the White House! As President Donald J. Trump gave a warm welcome to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as well as the leaders from Europe, people around the world watched while hoping for peace. Will the Ukraine-Russia war come to an end? Will peace be achieved?
The leaders from NATO, the European Commission, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Finland, as well as Ukraine, visited the District of Columbia this week to speak with President Donald J. Trump regarding achieving a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. This meeting would not have been possible without President Trump’s leadership.
The road ahead is not going to be easy. Both sides in the conflict–Ukraine and Russia–will have their own demands. There are many questions surrounding security guarantee, land swap, etc. These are complex issues that require dialogue, diplomacy, and compromise.
But there is hope that peace will be achieved. With President Trump’s leadership, I am hopeful that peace will be achieved.
