Governor Gavin Newsom has launched an effort to try to gerrymander. He wants to redraw the congressional map of California. I believe that the left-wing governor of California must immediately stop trying to do so.
Governor Newsom is committed to left-wing activism. Rather than focusing on governing, he is busy with advancing the left-wing agenda of trying to gain greater political power.
Instead of focusing on combating crime, ending homelessness, and reducing red tape to promote the growth of businesses, Governor Newsom wants to change the current congressional map of California to try to add more left-leaning districts. He wants to ensure that more congressional seats are added to the Democrats’ tally.
Governor Newsom is presenting this as a retaliatory strategy against Texas, because Texas Republicans recently approved a new congressional map that is likely to add more Republican seats. It must be pointed out that there is a significant difference between the redistricting effort in Texas and the one in California.
In Texas, the Republicans have worked hard to improve the congressional map to reflect the true nature of the state’s electorate. Texas is a solid conservative state. It is known as a “red” state. And what the Texas Republicans have done is to ensure that they create a map that truly represents the political landscape of the state.
But in California, Governor Gavin Newsom and the Democrats have launched a desperate attempt to expand their power. In doing so, they are disregarding the fact that California is shifting to the right, meaning that support for Republicans is increasing in the state.
For example, in the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump received 33.3 percent of the votes in California. In the 2020 presidential election, President Trump received 34.3 percent of the total votes in California. In the 2024 presidential election, that number increased to 38.3 percent. This shows that the Republicans are gaining ground in the Golden State.
It can be confidently stated that as time goes by, California’s voters will increasingly support Republicans. And Governor Gavin Newsom likely understands that reality very well. And therefore, he is trying to distort the congressional map in California to give greater unfair advantage to Democrat candidates.
The redistricting case in Texas and the one is California are completely different. The one in Texas is about improving a map, and the one in California is about distorting a map. The redistricting effort in Texas is fair and honest, and the one in California is not.
On one hand, freedom-loving Americans are applauding the legislators in Texas who voted to approve the new congressional map. On the other hand, patriotic Americans are deeply concerned about the Democrats’ plan to gerrymander in California.
I believe that Governor Gavin Newsom must accept the will of the American people and not try to retaliate against Texas by engaging in redistricting efforts in California.
