The process of voting by mail must end. Many Americans have lost their confidence in the electoral system because of the questions and confusion surrounding mail-in voting. I support President Trump’s decision to speak out against mail-in voting.
Free and fair elections are the foundation of our country. To ensure free and fair elections, the process of voting must be simple and straightforward. Mail-in voting adds layers of bureaucracy to the electoral process.
The process of voting by mail increases dependence on the United States Postal Service (USPS), an agency that has a long list of failures already. The USPS struggles to fulfill its most important responsibility, that is, to accurately and efficiently deliver mail. To rely on the USPS to deliver mailed ballots in a timely fashion is an absurd expectation. And if mailed ballots are lost or misplaced, there is risk of fraudulent activities which then would hurt the integrity of the electoral process.
Furthermore, voting is a right as well as a responsibility. And any responsible American citizen who wants to exercise the right to vote would find the time to physically go to a polling location and cast a ballot.
We have seen that the process of voting by mail can often result in delay in counting and reporting votes, which then creates frustration among the American voters who expect election results to be reported timely and accurately.
To strengthen our electoral process and to ensure free and fair elections, the mail-in voting system must be completely eliminated.
