Madison is facing public safety problems, as evident from the recent report of a brutal attack against a University of Wisconsin – Madison student. It is time to prioritize public safety and to make Madison safe again.
I made Madison my home many years ago, after coming to the United States as an immigrant. It is an amazing city where people of all ages can live and thrive.
However, in recent years, the city has been experiencing problems due to rising crime. Cases of thefts, robberies, sexual offenses, drug-related crimes, and even homicides have caused fear among law-abiding, peaceful Madison residents. Most recently, a college student became victim of violent assault, and the news of this incident continues to make Madisonians extremely worried about their safety and well-being in the state’s capital city.
It is time for Madison’s elected officials to make public safety the topmost priority. Public officials must provide law enforcement agencies with all the resources they need to combat crime. Most importantly, the city’s residents must always pay attention to their surroundings to help keep neighborhoods safe.
Public safety requires collective action by public officials and Madison residents. Together, we must make Madison safe again.
