It is quite despicable when public officials engage in the practice of nepotism and hand out special privileges to party members and abuse their power, disregarding the integrity of a body such as the United States Congress. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s action to relax the United States Senate’s dress code, to allow Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania to wear shorts and hoodie in the United States Capitol, is the latest example of special favors granted by one Democrat to another Democrat. The Democrats have a history of abusing their power and putting their personal priorities above everyone else’s.
I came to the United States as an immigrant, hoping for a better life, greater opportunities, and a playing field that is fair and impartial. The people in positions of power in government in the United States must follow the highest standards of ethics and professionalism to be shining examples for the rest of the world. Sadly, under Democrat control, the rules, customs, and etiquettes in the Senate are being destroyed.
Senator Chuck Schumer announced that the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms will no longer enforce a dress code on the Senate floor. Senators, in the course of a regular day, wear business clothing to honor and respect the United States Senate.
As an American citizen, I am very concerned to see Democrat elected officials in the highest levels of government engaging in granting and taking advantage of preferential treatment, while abusing their power. This is unacceptable.
Even before he was elected to the United States Senate, John Fetterman’s health status was questionable. The way Senator Fetterman conducts himself since being sworn into office makes many people believe that he is unfit for public office.
Senator John Fetterman has suffered from stroke and has also been diagnosed with clinical depression. Such a patient requires rigorous medical care, attention, and rehabilitation, and he must not be forced to face the stress associated with being a member of the United States Senate. And if he chooses to continue being in office, he should follow all the standards that a United States senator must abide by.
Democrats are mercilessly pushing John Fetterman in front of the public, even though the senator continues to struggle to form coherent sentences. The Democrats care more about holding on to their Senate seat in Pennsylvania, even if that requires endangering the health of an already frail patient suffering from multiple serious health problems.
But that is not where the desperate Democrats stop. Senator Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is now jeopardizing the decorum of the United States Senate by loosening the dress code of the chamber. This is his attempt to allow John Fetterman to treat the United States Senate chamber as his living room or his back yard.
As someone who wore a uniform in the classroom of my school, I understand the value of a strict dress code that helps foster discipline, respect, and dignity. The United States Senate is the most prominent body of elected officials in the world. Decisions made in the United States Senate impact not just the people of this country but also many around the globe. The Senate’s dress code must be strictly enforced.
This is not the first time that Democrats have taken advantage of power to demonstrate their relentless commitment to double standard and hypocrisy.
Back in 2020, Nancy Pelosi (who was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives at the time) went to a hair salon for service, despite the fact that local ordinances in San Francisco forced salons to be closed during the coronavirus outbreak. In doing so, Speaker Pelosi accessed services that other Americans living in her district were prevented from accessing.
Governor Gavin Newsom, like his Democrat colleague Nancy Pelosi, presented a horrible example of hypocrisy when he dined at a luxurious French restaurant in Yountville, in violation of the very COVID-19 protocols that his administration enforced on Californians.
The far-left congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is no different in her display of double standard. The representative from New York was caught partying maskless in Florida, while the constituents back in her district were being crushed under the burden of an indoor mask mandate.
More recently, Joe Biden’s left-wing energy secretary Jennifer Granholm made headlines for her outrageous display of special privilege when her staff used a gas-powered vehicle to block off an electric vehicle charger outside a Walmart, as average Americans waited in line to charge their cars (NOTE 9).
What is perhaps worse is the fact that rather than accepting responsibility for wrongfully blocking off an EV charger, Jennifer Granholm blamed her staff for their “poor judgment” and tried to shift the blame away from herself. Biden’s energy secretary is the epitome of Democrats’ abuse of power and special privilege.
Democrats are skilled in abusing their power and displaying their badge of special privilege. Chuck Schumer’s recent action to change the Senate’s dress code, to enable John Fetterman to carelessly continue wearing shorts and hoodie while clinging to his Senate seat, amplifies the Democrats’ disregard for rules, customs, traditions, and etiquettes in Congress and in society in general.
