A human being is not a cockroach. To say that human beings are roaches is highly offensive. Sunny Hostin, a host on the television show The View, recently compared “white Republican suburban women” to “roaches.” Her comment is an insult to women.
Sunny Hostin said that “white Republican suburban women” voting for GOP candidates is almost like “roaches voting for Raid.” The show host elaborated that if white Republican suburban women vote for Republicans, then they would be “voting against their own self-interest.“
The United States of America is a free country. Men and women are free to live their lives the way they wish. When it comes to voting, Americans are free to decide which candidates they would vote for. This is a country where people have diverse views and opinions. No American should insult others for voting the way they prefer to. To say that voters are “roaches” if they vote for Republicans is an insult to our constitutional right to vote.
Here in Wisconsin, in 2019, we celebrated 100 years of women’s suffrage. Wisconsin was the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution. Sunny Hostin’s comments are highly offensive to women, here in Wisconsin and all over America.
This is not the first time that voters have been subject to name-calling. Perhaps one of the most widely known examples is when Hillary Clinton, in 2016, called Trump supporters “deplorables.” Also, not too long ago, First Lady Jill Biden compared Latinos to “breakfast tacos.” Later, she had to apologize for the comment.
As human beings, we must all treat each other with respect. Women, in particular, have an elevated position in society. They are mothers who give birth to and raise children. Women have such strong position in human civilization that we refer to the earth as “Mother Earth.” Furthermore, we use the term “Mother Nature” to refer to the laws and forces of nature that govern our existence.
It is shocking to see a television show host refer to women as “roaches”. This is a terrible insult to women everywhere.
Hillary Clinton said that about half of Trump supporters were deplorables, before trying to say that the other half had legitimate concerns about the state of the country. The Trump camp ignored the latter, even lied about it, as you just did.
Clinton was overly generous about the whole thing.
