Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has died today. She was 96 years old at the time of her passing. The news of her death shook the entire world.
In this context, I want to share something that I know from my family’s history. My maternal grandfather, Mr. Ansaruddin Khan, was a businessman and was also involved in many philanthropic endeavors.
Furthermore, he was member of the Dacca District Council in East Pakistan (Dacca is now named Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh). He was one of the nineteen members who were selected to be in the reception committee to welcome Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II upon her arrival in East Pakistan in 1961.
The photo below shows my maternal grandfather Ansaruddin Khan shaking hands with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Next to the Queen, in the picture, is Azam Khan, who was the Governor of East Pakistan at the time. On one side of my maternal grandfather was Barrister Nurul Huda, and on the other side was Mongshoi Pru, Minister of Minority Affairs.
Today is a day to mourn the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. Please join me in praying for the Queen’s departed soul. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
