Since the outbreak of COVID19, many people continue to be affected by never-ending fear. I think it is time to eliminate the fear from our hearts.
There are individuals who are still wearing masks due to their fear of coronavirus. I completely respect people’s freedom to wear or to not wear masks in public settings. However, I also feel that fear is taking away our ability to live normal lives.
I suffered from COVID19, just as I suffered from a variety of other illnesses, such as pneumonia, severe bronchial allergies, dengue fever, and more. A few episodes of illnesses were even life-threatening.
My mother was hospitalized with COVID19. She had to be taken to the emergency room and had to be admitted in the hospital for treatment. Even after discharge from the hospital, she spent weeks recovering at home and regaining her strength. I was very much afraid and kept praying to God for my mother’s health.
I believe that people have reasons to be afraid of COVID19 and many other life-threatening illnesses. I, too, was very much afraid when my mother was in the hospital. But we must not allow our fear to overpower our faith in God.
Every day, as mortal beings, we face many hazards. When we travel, we could get involved in a car crash. When we take the stairs, we may slip and fall. When we are enjoying the outdoors, we may get bit by a snake. When we are on a boat on the lake, we may become victims of accidental drowning. Then there are wildfires, tornadoes, lightning, wild grizzly bears and so many factors that can affect our safety and well-being. There are endless dangers lurking at every corner of our lives. Yet, we move on with our lives and try to utilize our God-given potential and be productive human beings.
When one danger seems to end, a new one seems to begin. As we try to recover from the effects of COVID19, we are now faced with a new threat called “monkeypox.” Many people are already deeply concerned about this new viral disease. In fact, the Biden administration declared monkeypox a public health emergency.
The threats to our health and safety will never come to an end. As individuals, we have no control over global viral outbreaks and other threats. What we certainly have control over is how we choose to combat the fear.
We must certainly take reasonable steps to protect our health and safety. As human beings, it is our responsibility to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. However, we must not become victims of never-ending fear by giving up our freedom.
It is important to remember that our lives are full of potential to do great things, and we must not let fear suppress that potential.
