Climate activists, to combat global warming, want to reduce the consumption of meat, including beef. The efforts to push people to give up meats goes against the religious freedom of Muslims.
Many climate activists are pushing for people to give up real meat and start consuming “plant-based meats“, to fight global warming. “Plant-based meats” are not meats, but rather these are non-meat edible materials popular among people who are vegetarians and those who follow vegan lifestyle.
Activists believe that giving up the consumption of meat will help address climate change. In fact, billionaire Bill Gates said that rich countries should move to synthetic beef.
Climate activists’ efforts to end the consumption of meat is in direct conflict with the freedom of religion of the followers of Islam all over the world.
One of the biggest holy festivals in Islam is Eid-ul-Azha (also called Eid-al-Adha), which is observed by Muslims all over the world. Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Azha by sacrificing animals such as cows, goats, and lamb, etc., and sharing the meat with family, friends, and the poor and needy.
Muslims celebrated the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Azha just a few days ago. As a Muslim, I observed Eid-ul-Azha in the state of Wisconsin, in the United States, by sacrificing a cow. In America, people are free to live their lives the way they wish. The freedom of religion is guaranteed in the First Amendment.
The major Islamic celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, all over the world, involves the slaughter of animals and the sharing and consumption of meat. For climate activists to try to end the consumption of meat would be to try to end the Islamic celebration of Eid-ul-Azha. Climate activists are trying to destroy the religious freedom of Muslims.
We must never allow climate activists to dictate how to live our lives. We must never allow climate activists to destroy religious freedom and we must never allow them to suppress people from practicing their faith.
