I have a growing YouTube channel, where I have posted over 130 videos (mostly short videos, known as YouTube Shorts) about food. It is amazing to see the kinds of reactions I get from my audience regarding the dishes I prepare.
Cooking is my passion. Not only do I like cooking, but I also enjoy gardening. Unfortunately, as I do not own a house, I do not have much space for gardening. I have plants in pots, on my balcony. But in Wisconsin, we only get a few months of warm weather, and so I cannot engage in gardening throughout the year. However, I can and do enjoy cooking a wide variety of dishes that I learnt from my mother, year-round.
From the big Hilsa fish and Rohu fish to the small Mola fish and Kachki fish, from Beef Rezala to Desi Chicken Curry, from the bright Laal Shak and Okra Stir Fry to Kakrol Bhaji and Pepe Bhaji, and from smooth Paratha and crunchy Peyaju to tasty Chotpoti, I prepare many Bangladeshi food and dishes. While I could only focus on the special dishes such as flavorful Mutton Biryani, spicy Beef Kabas, delicious Bangladeshi Grilling Prawns, etc., I like to instead focus on everyday dishes that can satisfy the hunger of a man with simple taste. Moreover, I focus on ensuring a healthy diet, and so I do not use overly hot and intense spices, and I also use less oil. That is why, I put the videos in a playlist that I titled “Simple food.“
And of course, I enjoy sharing some clips about the process of cooking, as well as the image of the finished product, with my audience.
It is no surprise that I receive a variety of reactions. Some ask me for the recipe, some shower me with compliments. There are a few, however, who express their dislike.
The good comments and praises have, so far, outweighed the negative comments. This gives me hope and joy, as I continue to share my cooking videos with the world.
Food is very personal. Individual taste varies greatly. Food brings back memories, reminds us of childhood days, and can take us back to a time when we shared a meal with our loved ones. Food is our identity, and the fuel for our journey ahead. Dishes and culinary arts are influenced by cultures and traditions. And above all, food is a necessity.
I want to thank all those who continue to encourage me as I pursue my passion in cooking. Everything that I have learnt so far, I have learnt from my mother. There is a lot more to learn.
